bio:
BFA from CalArts 1987.
being fortunate enough to have attended school at birmingham high in the late 70s, i found my way into one of only two high school electronic music departments in the country. everyone in my program aspired to go on to CalArts and so did i but for design, not for music. many years later i have returned to the one thing that i understand more than any other, music and sound. in the last several years my time working has been shifting away from graphic design to sound design and composition for performance and the entertainment industry. The name of my project is “mother”.
mother is an ongoing project to learn more about the nature of sound and the auditory ties we all have to the emotional experiences of our lives. for three years mother has been trying to accumulate an auditory vocabulary to express feelings that everyone is already familiar with such as love, sorrow, joy, loss. in doing so i have unexpectedly come in contact with a sound that is the music of my subconscious. well aware that everyone has a different lens they see through, mother is an attempt to push the concept of story telling as far away from song writing as possible and still communicate to the listener.music credits: PDF
